what we've been up to...

We have been so busy these past couple weeks getting into the 'groove' of the Fall Season. One of our projects focused on Fire Safety.  During this science experiment we were able to identify that without air, heat, or fuel fire can not continue to burn.  We also reviewed the importance of having a fire safety family plan and reviewed how to stop, drop, and roll.

Here some of us are recording our observations and the data we were able to collect during our science experiment.

We also spent time learning about Christopher Columbus.  We created this circle map to record the information we learned after reading several nonfiction stories about this historical figure, as well as watching a very fun BrainPop video!
As a reader's response art activity, we created these little Christopher Columbus ships and learned the famous saying "In 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue."
This past week we began our unit on Nocturnal animals and focused on owls.  Next week, we will continue to learn about more nocturnal animals including spiders, bats, and raccoons!  Be on the lookout for more pictures to come soon!
